Continuous connections: Engagement in the time of COVID-19 - Free Webinar

We started our free webinar series, Continuous Connections, when the pandemic began, as a means of connecting with other engagement professionals and members of our community while we navigated a constantly evolving and disruptive 2020.

It was a wonderful way to share experiences and learnings together, and we thank all of our registrants and participants for their interest, input and support.

We are hopeful that 2021 will see a balanced return to face-to-face engagement - while retaining and incorporating the new processes we have learned and the best parts that emerged from 2020 (there were many!).

With that said, we would like to continue providing a free webinar series for our community in the new year, as a means of continuing to learn, engage and share with our fellow practitioners.

If you would like to join us, we would love to hear from you, and in particular, would be interested in finding out any topics you would like covered.

To do so, please register to join the early bird list for next year, and stay informed about the series.

There’s never been a more important time for us to come together and support each other in the community engagement space, and we’ve been absolutely blown away by the response!

WILL VICTORIA'S COMMUNITY CONSULTATION INQUIRY SHIFT REAL PRACTICE?
WILL VICTORIA'S COMMUNITY CONSULTATION INQUIRY SHIFT REAL PRACTICE?

28 recommendations. One message: Engagement practice across the Victorian Government sector isn't consistently good enough. The findings are not suprising - and we think, on balance, they are are fair. A framework already existed - it wasn't applied. So what will make things different this time? We’re exploring what this might mean in reality, what it would take to see a shift, and how the broader landscape across other sectors and states is shifting.

SHIFTS SHAPING ENGAGEMENT NEXT YEAR
SHIFTS SHAPING ENGAGEMENT NEXT YEAR

As we wrap up 2025, we’ve been thinking about the people we’ve had the privilege of working with and the conversations we’ve been honoured to support over the last twelve months. We’re also looking forward, and we expect to see continual shifts in engagement practice in 2026. From AI becoming BAU for enabling more effective conversations to new ways to increase representativeness, shifts are underway. In this post, we share our standout stats for 2025, and a video previewing three of the big trends we think organisations should be thinking about for their engagement programs in the new year.

DOWNLOAD OUR BIG BOOK FOR FREE

We’re excited to share that our book, Facilitating Deliberation: A Practical Guide, is now free to download. Thanks to the generous support of Aviv Ovadya and the AI & Democracy Foundation, the digital edition is now openly available to anyone who wants to access this valuable resource. Here we explore why we’ve decided to release the book for free, and share a short video featuring our MosaicLab co-founders and book co-authors Nicole, Keith and Kim. They delve into what they love about the book and the impact they hope it has on deliberative democracy around the world.

ENGAGING THROUGH POLARISATION
ENGAGING THROUGH POLARISATION

As Australia grapples with increasing polarisation, engagement processes face new challenges. Declining public trust, contested narratives, and diverging values can make even well-intentioned dialogue feel risky. Explore the do’s and don’ts of navigating polarisation to foster genuine, constructive conversations in contested and divided environments — and discover how to create space for honest, inclusive engagement that moves beyond entrenched positions.
