- Naomi Oosting
Naomi is an experienced facilitator with specialist skills in community and stakeholder engagement and extensive experience in bringing complex or difficult messages to a broad audience.
Ask Naomi to describe her work at MosaicLab, and she puts it simply: “I facilitate hard conversations and help people to influence decisions that affect them.
“I believe in the power of deliberative democracy because it benefits individuals, the community, organisations and society.”
And the most satisfying part of her role? “I love empowering people to be heard.
“I love the good things that can happen when we are brave enough to embrace diversity of opinion, and respectfully have the conversations that really matter.”
Over the past 20 years, Naomi has worked for various state government organisations.
She has supported government and technical specialists to have honest conversations with the community, often around complicated or emotionally-charged subjects.
Naomi has co-designed and facilitated meaningful conversations and engagement with the community around contentious subjects such as environmental pollution, health, mining and urban renewal.
Naomi has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Environmental Science and a Certificate in Engagement from the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) Australasia.
In her spare time, Naomi loves going on adventures with her family, especially exploring new places.
Fun Fact! Naomi’s first job was selling roses in restaurants. “It was great practice for reading body language and broaching uncomfortable conversations!”
